Germany experienced a significant influx of visitors from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries in 2023, recording nearly 1.3 million overnight stays. This marked a notable increase in tourism activity, positioning the GCC as one of Germany’s top three inbound markets, following the United States and China.
In 2024, the German National Tourist Board (GNTB) aims to further boost these numbers, targeting to match or exceed the 1.6 million overnight stays recorded by GCC visitors in 2019. The GNTB is confident that the upward trend will continue, driven by a variety of initiatives and attractions tailored to GCC tourists.
Bavaria emerged as the most popular destination within Germany for GCC visitors in 2023, welcoming over 527,000 guests from the region. This represents a 7.4% increase compared to 2022, underscoring Bavaria’s growing appeal among travelers from the Gulf states.
